NFL player Cameron Jordan ripped into President Trump this Friday after he renewed his attacks on the players choosing to kneel in protest during the national anthem while remaining silent on this weekend’s Unite the Right rally in Washington.

“Guy who won the presidential election… how about we get a statement on the ‘unite the right’ rally 2 being held in DC this weekend… a [year] after the first one in Charlottesville???” the New Orleans Saints defensive end wrote on Twitter.

Jordan’s tweet was a direct response to several statements Trump posted on Twitter regarding players who protest during the national anthem “wanted to show their ‘outrage’ at something that most of them are unable to define.”

“The NFL players are at it again — taking a knee when they should be standing proudly for the National Anthem,” Trump wrote on Friday, a day after several players protested during the national anthem ahead of their preseason games.

“Be happy, be cool! A football game, that fans are paying soooo much money to watch and enjoy, is no place to protest,” he said in a subsequent tweet. “Most of that money goes to the players anyway.”

“Find another way to protest. Stand proudly for your National Anthem or be Suspended Without Pay!” Trump concluded.

Trump’s revamped attacks on NFL players comes mere days before the anniversary of last summer’s violent Unite the Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where white supremacists went head to head with counterprotesters who were standing up to racism. During the rally, a 32-year-old woman was killed when a car was driven into a crowd of counterprotesters, allegedly by a man who there to attend the white supremacist rally.
